Job Description

The Fusion System Software (FSS) team is looking for a hands-on lead SW architect to help deliver our Fusion System Software products. This person would have broad technical responsibilities across the entire Fusion System Software team and would be responsible for defining the next generation of heterogeneous compute platforms.

Candidate will be expected to architect, design and guide the implementation of all FSS software ranging from parallel workloads to parallel runtimes and kernel mode drivers. This person will be expected to work with senior architects and fellows across AMD to ensure that our technical directions are aligned with other areas of the corporation.

This person must have strong experience in parallel programming and must be an expert programmer. Candidate is expected to have a broad skill set including strong working knowledge of compilers, runtime libraries, linkers, loaders and operating systems. Ideal candidate will have experience with SIMD+SMP, OpenCL, GPGPU, heterogeneous compute, managed runtimes, task scheduling/prioritization, memory management and kernel mode drivers.

Job Responsibilities

Candidate should also have previous experience developing software for new and emerging hardware architectures. They must be capable of understanding current and planned hardware functionality and be able to define software directions aligned with silicon features.

Candidate must possess superior communications skills and should be able to distill industry and technology trends into actionable software (and hardware) deliverables.

This is a senior technical position reporting to the director of Fusion System Software in Austin Texas. A master’s degree in computer science (or related area) is required. PhD is highly desired.
